A police dog suffered from gunshot wounds to his neck and face on April 12 and spent a few days in the hospital. The dog was finally advised that it could already be discharged.

The dog has been assigned with the Yarmouth Police Department and was shot by a man. The man has since been charged with the shooting of the dog. The man also fatally shot the partner of the police dog, Sgt. Sean Gannon. The release of the police dog came hours after Gannon’s funeral.
The police dog will stay with the Yarmouth police K-9 handler Peter McClelland, who saved the doggo when it got shot. The police dog handler never left the side of the shot police dog. The dog will be given to the family of the slain sergeant after it fully heals from its gunshot wounds.
