A woman is currently training and raising her 12th dog to be part of Guiding Eyes for the Blind. The woman is in Hornell, New York.
– A woman is training doggos for Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
– Eight of the 11 dogs she trained have become guide dogs or studs.
– She is currently training her 12th dog.
The woman was identified as Elizabeth Williams and has been a volunteer with the organization since 2004. She has been training doggos on how they can be of help to their owners in the future. She trains them to dress in their vests on their own and socialize with people. Eight of the 11 doggos she has raised for eighteen months have become guide dogs or studs.
Williams shared that even if the doggo does not graduate or end up to be a guide dog, the training benefited the animal. She added that it also makes her feel good because she loves “the concept of getting an eight week old puppy and transforming it through almost a year and a half into a confident dog.” She also goes everywhere with the doggos she trains. She works at a private preschool and she is allowed to bring them there, too.
