A woman from Norfolk, Virginia shared that she is very thankful she has an assistance dog during this time of pandemic. The dog is from Canine Companions for Independence.

The woman, identified as Patricia Coale, shared that the doggo helps her in many ways because the animal performs more than 40 commands. He closes and open doors for her, picks up dropped items, turns on and off the light switches around the house, and many more. The woman shared, “Being that we’re at home all the time, it’s just really nice to have a companion that wags in the morning when I wake up, glad to see me… doesn’t get disturbed by the pandemic, that sort of thing.”
More on the Canine Companions for Independence, they provide assistance dogs to adults and children. As of now, more than 400 disabled people and veterans are still waiting to be matched with their assistance dogs.
