A woman from Edmonton was out with her doggo walking one day when they were attacked by two other dogs. She hopes for stricter penalties for dog owners during these types of incidents.
– A woman was out walking her dog.
– She and her dog were later attacked by two unleashed dogs.
– The owner of the attacking dogs is only facing fines regarding the incident.
According to the dog owner, she and her six-year-old doggo were walking on June 2. They were in their usual route when the two doggos that were unleashed came at them. The dog owner explained that her dog was not barking or acting aggressive when they were attacked. The attacking dogs reportedly came from a nearby house.
Fortunately, an off-duty police officer and another bystander saw what happened and tried to pull the two attacking dogs from the victim doggo. The owner of the attacking dogs, however, never showed up. The victim dog had to undergo two surgeries and is scheduled for one more. The dog owner suffered from a few bites.
The owner of the attacking dogs is facing a fine and the owner of the victim dog said, “I just find it’s really hard to find justice. I was told that the only way that we can get reimbursed is to go through a lawsuit. So i consulted a lawyer (and) was told that I’d have to pay $50,000 for the legal costs and … what they said is, it’s not worth it because I’d not get that much of a reimbursement at the end.”
