Accordingly, the police in the area responded to an animal call at an apartment complex in Luther Street West. The people managing the apartment said that a resident named Madeline Clark, 20 years old, claimed a doggo was dead in her apartment. When police contacted Clark, she said that she gave the dog some food and water before leaving. When she came back, however, the dog was already dead.
The woman claimed initially that she left only for a few days but she admitted later that she was gone for a week but she has not checked on her dog for less than a month. Apartment maintenance workers were the ones who found the dog’s decomposing body inside a kennel in the apartment.
Per the investigation, officers believe the dog did not die of starvation because the two bowls of food were not even touched by the animal. The cause of death remains unknown. The woman was then charged with cruelty to a non-livestock animal.
