The senior doggo is a 13-year-old Chihuahua named Kismet and was adopted by Dr. Cameron Garrett and his wife, Debra, a month after they lost their other toothless dog, Karma, who was also a dental therapy dog. Kismet’s main job is to sit on the laps of the patients while they are getting something done at the clinic. Garrett said that the reason behind this tactic is because studies proved that people who sit and pet an animal have lower blood pressure.
Kismet is really great with kids who come to the clinic because they enjoy playing with her. Kismet is great at her job because she doesn’t bark and just loves to get snuggles from the patients. The dog being toothless is also a plus for the clinic because they can use her as an example regarding periodontal disease.
