Now that it’s hot and sunny outside, dog owners are being advised to follow simple steps on how to make sure their doggos are comfortable during a walk or a hike. If you are planning to take your dog outside, you might want to check out the tips below.
– Dogs can go on a hike with their owners.
– However, it is best to go out when its cooler during these hot weather months.
– Also, dog owners should consider the breed of their dog.
The first tip is to limit the time that your dog is outside when it’s hot and sunny. Another is to go out either very early in the morning or later in the evening because during these times, it is cooler. One more tip that dog owners should know is that the area where they will walk or hike has a water source where the doggo can drink or cool itself in. If there is no such source, it is best to bring your own water for your doggo.
Seth Jones, education director for the Adirondack Mountain Club, also noted that dog owners should know the capabilities of their dogs because some dog breeds are naturally fitter than other breeds. The usual hiking dogs are Labradors and shepherds. However, if you own a malamute or a husky, they might have difficulties because of their thick coat.
