A state police trooper fatally shot a dog that was inside a resident’s yard. Residents in the area have since criticized the trooper for doing what he did.

The New York State Police claimed that the stray dog was a threat to public safety due to it being aggressive. Police tried to contact dog control and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to get the dog out of the streets but they were not available.
One woman claimed she took the dog in but the dog became aggressive and tried to bite her. Neighbors, on the other hand, said that the woman even hugged and petted the dog. Police were called by the woman and that was when the dog got shot. Neighbors expressed their disappointment on how the incident was handled.
