Despite all the recommendations from the vet, most dogs aren’t getting enough exercise on a daily basis. A new study conducted by the website Dogisto.com has shown the shocking findings.
The survey ( 1st Sept. 2016) of 233 people revealed that 61 (26.18%) dog owners give their dogs a walk once a day, 68 (29.18%) dog owners walk their pets twice a day, 39 (16.74%) dog owners dedicate more time to their dogs and walk them three times a day while 38 (16.74%) give their dogs a walk four times a day.

Every dog owner knows the rule – a dog needs at least one 50-minute walk a day, while ideally two 30-minute walks are a healthy amount of exercise they should get.
According to the Dogisto’s study, most dog owners walk their dogs just once a day, which means their pets are more prone to obesity and disease. The worst thing is that they’re too busy to spend at least 20 minutes walking their dogs once a day.
Meeting a dog’s daily needs is one of the responsibilities of having a dog. Although dogs like to sleep for hours, they do need activity. Not only do daily walks keep a dog fit, but also boost the dog’s brain function and improve mood.
When your dog doesn’t get enough daily walks, he/she may become bored, irritated, depressed and ready to destroy the entire home to make you give him/her attention he/she needs.
Remember, young dogs need more than an hour of daily exercise, but some breeds need much more. A well-exercised dog behaves a lot better, feels a lot better and lives a lot longer. Your dog’s health depends on you, so make sure you walk your Fido at least twice a day.
