The program is basically allowing volunteers to check out a dog for one day so that they can be given some time off from the shelter. The volunteers may take the dogs to go out hiking, to go walking, to visit the river, or even just play at home and get a lot of cuddles. One special instruction that the shelter wants to get across the volunteers is that they should not introduce the shelter dogs to other family doggos or pets. The applicants should be 18 years old and above.
A spokesperson for the shelter said that the program will help lift the spirits in the community, too, since it has been a little bit down because of the pandemic.
