Authorities said that the dog, Bilbo, was supposed to weigh twice as what it weighs now. The dog was also in distress and had sores all over its body. The dog owners will be appearing in court by September 15.
The dog is currently under the care of Nova Scotia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). A representative for Nova Scotia SPCA said in a statement, “It is the owner’s responsibility to reach out for help if they cannot provide appropriate care. The Nova Scotia SPCA accepts animals across the province with no surrender fee.”
