– A dog was once a secret service doggo.
– The dog helped save the life of former President Barack Obama in 2014.
– Because of this, the doggo will receive an award from…
The dog, named Hurricane, was part of the secret service once and the honor that he will receive is the first time that it is given to a non-Brit animal. The award is Order of Merit by the British charity called Peoples Dispensary for Sick Animals. The award is given to dogs and other animals that display an outstanding devotion to their owner or a wider society that is above and beyond normal companionship.
In 2014, Hurricane, along with another secret service dog, stopped a man who jumped into the White House. The intruder kicked and threw the doggo around but the secret service dog was still able to tackle the man, which led to the agents to arrest him. Hurricane received injuries from the attack and it was what led him to retire from service two years later.
