A doggo named Zeus was once starving, sick, and wounded while it was out in the wilderness. The dog was rescued and recently won a national contest that guarantees the animal a year’s worth of food.
– A dog named Zeus was found with quills on its body because of an encounter with a porcupine.
– The dog also had severe mange, was malnourished, and was starving.
– The dog was fostered by…
Per the Standing Rock Indian Reservation, Zeus encountered a porcupine and the incident left it with many quills in its body. The dog’s left eye was even punctured, as well as its saliva gland. The dog was also underweight and had severe mange when further assessed. When the veterinarian checked the dog, they believe that it endured the pain from the quills for two weeks before being rescued. The dog later underwent surgery that lasted for more than five hours.
After the surgery, Fran Miller and her husband John offered to foster the dog. They fell in love with Zeus and ended up adopting him. Fran then entered Zeus in the Fido Foster “Lucky Dog” National Photo Contest. The prizes for the winners were a $5,000 grant, 5,000 pet meals for the shelter, a year’s supply of dog food for the winner, a MyPetCandle candle with his likeness on it, and free walks through the Wag dog walking app.
The public were asked to vote on the 25 finalists and Zeus won. The dog owners are happy that the dog won and they are now working on letting Zeus go out again.
