Coastal K9 Rescue Society is a rescue center for doggos that is located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. However, the dog rescue center might close down because there’s just not enough support from the community.
– A dog rescue center might close down.
– The owner said they don’t get enough fosters and volunteers.
– The dogs that are with her now are…
The owner of the rescue center, Raylene Dewan, said that she is not a superwoman so if there aren’t enough volunteers, she can’t keep running the center. She is a 58-year-old woman who has retired from her job so she really can’t pay people to come in and help her around. Also, there is a shortage on fosters that is why she can’t keep up with the needed dog food, love and affection, and other necessities that the doggos need.
Dewan noted that she received 25 applications for foster homes in the past weeks but only two ended up actually getting a dog to foster. Most applicants wanted a fully-trained doggo but that’s not possible. Dewan is currently taking care of three pit bulls, a shih tzu, and a yorki-poo.
