– A dog in a South France village was killed by an eagle-owl.
– The eagle-owl has been in the area since June and made its believed first attack recently.
– The dog owners said that…
According to the dog owner, the dog was just wandering in the garden when the incident happened. The owl has reportedly been around the village since June and the attack on the doggo was the first since it was spotted. One of the dog owners shared that when he turned on the lights in the garden, he saw the owl flying away and that revealed the dead dog. He continued, “Our young dog was covered in blood with a big wound to the neck. She was dead, torn to pieces by a huge bird.” The owl reportedly came back and tried to take the dog away but the dog owner shouted and scared it with a broom.
Authorities are already working to capture the bird. However, Eurasian eagle-owls are protected species in France so the capturing should ensure that the animal will not be in danger.
