The doggo, named Trixie, was an explosives detection dog and also protected Pope Francis. She worked with her handler named Officer Thomas Reagan. They worked together for ten years until Trixie retired last February. Reagan continued to care for the retired police dog and they considered it as their family pet. However, the dog was diagnosed with cancer in October and was put down last week.
The dog was taken to the home of the Reagans from North Deering Animal Hospital on Friday morning to bid her farewell.
