According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), of the 3.3. million dogs that get lost and are taken to animal shelters, only 620,000 are reunited with their owners. Now, Babs says that when dogs have gone missing, the first thing dog owners should do is to go home and open the doors. Dogs can smell their families so if the doors are open, there is a good chance they will be running home in no time. When dog owners go out looking for their dogs, they can spread their scent around so dogs will be confused.
Next, dog owners should tell their neighbors not to approach their dog because it could make the dog ran farther away from home. If nothing of these would work, it is also great to set a trap with something you know your dog would not resist.
