Just recently, Guiding Eyes for the Blind had a test called “In for Training.” Dogs are placed inside a room full of stimuli such as loud noises, things hanging from the ceiling to distract the dogs, alluring toys, and many more.
Dogs stay there for 10 to 15 minutes with a guide and they will be graded as to how they reacted to the different kinds of stimuli. The dogs should be able to stay calm, do not get easily distracted, and should have good social manners.
PEOPLE’s guide dog in training passed with flying colors. The dog has to complete a few more tests before helping a visually-impaired person.
