The amount determined by the researchers cover toys, food, clothing, and veterinary care and the research was published in the journal called Benefit-Cost Analysis. Usually, dog owners spend most money on care, feeding, and entertainment for their doggos.
For the study, around 5,000 dog owners were asked about their willingness to pay for a hypothetical vaccine that would reduce their dog’s risk of death from a particular canine virus. Many said they would pay between $500 to $900 for the vaccine. The researchers then used the figure to evaluate how much dog owners are willing to pay for their dogs during their entire life. The researchers arrived with the figure $10,000.
