A 10-year-old German Shepherd formerly worked with the Marine Corps. The dog has been hailed a hero for her service so when the day came she had to be put down because she had an aggressive form of cancer, many came out to honor her during her final walk.

The dog went to the Aquia Garrisonville Veterinary Hospital to be put down and on her way there, many men and women in uniform gave their farewell in the form of a salute. The dog’s partner said, “She was my partner, my road dog, my garage buddy, my solace, my angel, my sword and my protector.” Before they decided to put the doggo down, they allowed the dog to undergo three surgeries in an attempt to stop the cancer from spreading but it was not successful.
The dog was once an assistant instructor dog before joining the Marine Corps. The dog later became an explosive detection dog and a certified patrol dog.
