The man, identified as Richard Wilbanks, said that Gunner, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel, was in shock after it was attacked. The dog visibly had puncture wounds after it was pried out of the alligator’s jaws and when further checked, the dog thankfully had no internal injuries. The doggo stayed at the animal hospital for a few days to recover as it had water in its lungs.
After staying at the hospital and being taken home, Wilbanks said that Gunner is doing well now. He is back to his usual energetic self. The dog also has a new leash so that whenever it goes out for a walk with its owner, there will no longer be a repeat of the recent alligator attack.
