American actress Lily Tomlin believes that the practice of Texas A&M University breeding Golden Retriever dogs to find a cure for muscular dystrophy is cruel. She phoned more than 5,000 staffers at the university to let them know her disagreement with the practice.
– Actress Lily Tomlin recorded a message for staffers at Texas A&M University.
– She urged them to call on the university’s president to stop the dog laboratories.
– These laboratories were made to help look for a cure for muscular dystrophy, both in humans and in dogs.
Tomlin recorded a message calling for the end of the experiments on the dogs on campus. She said that she made the calls on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
In the recorded calls, she called on the university president, Michael Young, to close the dog laboratories.
A university spokesperson said that they respect Tomlin but they disagree with her. They noted that the dogs are treated with utmost dignity and care.
