Most dog owners run with their dogs. Experts say that there are actually tips in order to exercise with your dog safely.
– Running or jogging with dogs is great.
– Younger dogs should not, however, be forced to run.
– It is not a good idea to run with a leash.
According to the experts, although running or jogging is great for dogs, it could damage their health and wellbeing if the dog owner is irresponsible. What dog owners have to have in mind is the fact that running or jogging is not a great exercise for younger dogs. If the dog is less than nine months old, it is best to limit the running or jogging to less than one mile.
Dogs also need to warm up just like their dog owners. Warming up the muscles can protect both the dog and the dog owner from injuries. Also, jogging alongside a dog using a leash is not a good idea because the dog might be forced to run faster than the pace it prefers.
