The Association of British Insurers said that there was a 10 percent increase of claims made last year as compared to 2016. Also last year, a Golden Retriever’s fracture cost £10,000 as to the veterinary bills. Most of the bills cost an average of £757 but if the medical procedure needs surgery, the average bill that a dog owner could face is at least £1,500.
The Association of British Insurers released such information to warn other dog owners that they could face costly medical bills if they won’t get insurance for their dogs and other pets thru payment of premiums. They noted that in their area, around 67 percent of dogs remain uninsured.
