Lincoln won last year after the town manager came up with the pet mayor election idea. This was in order to raise money for the community playground. The children in the community are also very much involved because they get to vote in the honorary mayor post.
As for the doggo nominee this year, it is actually a police doggo named Sammy. He visits local schools and is very much popular around town so it looks like he also has a good chance to be the honorary mayor this year.
The election will be on March 3 and those who will vote have to pay $1. The funds will again be used for the playground.
