Ben a Golden Retriever dog is an extraordinary dog. Unlike the other Golden Retrievers, Ben would not jump on visitors.
He is playful but polite. According to his owner, Beth Yorascak, they are even amazed that Ben does not jump on them. However, they have a discovery. Ben has hip dysplasia. It is a crippling and painful joint defect.

Ben needs help when getting the couch or bed. He is often tired. However, life is good for Ben. At age of 9 months, he has hip replacement.
Although a hip replacement won’t last forever, for dogs it will last up to 15 years and that is lifetime for them.

“He’s already walking better than before the operation,” she said. “He was so excited to see snow — jumping around all over the place.”
A surgery resident, Dr. Kim Tong, took out Ben’s stitches and inspected the leg.
“Good job, bud,” Dr. Tong told Ben. “You’re doing a good job.”
Ben wagged his tail as Ms. Yaroscak led him outside and into the snow.
