There have been a lot of stories about freak accidents and this is one for the books. A doggo, who was out with his hunter owner, accidentally fired the gun and shot his human’s back.

The dog owner, 74-year-old Sonny Gilligan, was with his two dogs for a jackrabbit hunting trip. They were driving when one of the dogs, Charlie, a Rottweiler mix, decided to go to the back of the vehicle. It was a recipe for disaster because the shotgun was in the back and it was loaded. The doggo accidentally caught his paw on the trigger of the shotgun and the bullet went through the front seat and tore into the dog owner’s back.
The dog owner was later taken to University Medical Center through a helicopter. The dog owner said in a statement that he was fortunate that he had his phone that time and was able to call for help immediately after the shooting.
