The six-year-old dog named Halo was given up at Rags 2 Riches Animal Rescue. The dog was with a foster family but no one seemed to be interested to adopt her. That was the scenario until Upland Borough Police Lt. Mickey Curran saw the dog’s photo on Facebook. Curran adopted the dog and the doggo has since been living at the Upland police station. Curran noted, “I thought it’d be good for morale, especially when you come back from a tough situation, like a domestic violence case or a car crash, she’s there to greet you with her tail wagging. It makes the day a little easier.”
Just last week, the doggo was sworn into office making her the first ever rescue K-9 in the police department. The dog will work as a community police officer. She will attend police-related event and make visitors at the police station feel welcome.
