The dogs are from Top Tier K9’s training facility and the owner, Jeff Minder, hopes to train them all. Minder noted that these dogs will be useful in areas where people gather in large groups like churches and airports. Minder noted as to the success rate of the training, “Their success rate at finding that virus is, actually, for the last two weeks, has been 100 percent. But it’s 95, 96 percent based on all the work I’ve done.”
Minder added that it still depends on the breed of the dog he will train. One may be trained to sniff the virus in eight months while others may be trained up to two years. As for the fear of the virus mutating, the trainer said the mutation will affect people but now how it smells to a doggo.
