Always remember that a dog is easily distracted. If you want a dog’s full attention, do your training in a place with less distraction.
– Find a place with no distractions
– Train him to obey you
– Practice makes perfect.
Distraction is perhaps the biggest problem a trainer could encounter. Your dog may follow all your commands but if a distraction comes out, your dog will totally ignore you.
Training your dog to listen to you despite strong environmental distractions is one of a dog trainer’s most difficult and elusive goals. If you are still a rookie at training a dog, just start training inside the comforts of your own home.
Training inside your own house will allow you to control most distractions around you. When you have trained your dog and he is capable of listening to you, you can start training outside.
Introduce him to the neighborhood and take note of possible distractions that may interfere with your training. Do this frequently and remember that practice makes perfect.
