A lot of dogs are at risk after reports have surfaced saying that euthanasia drug was found in dog foods. Officials are now investigating as to how true the claims are.
– A drug used for euthanasia in dogs and other pets were found in dog foods.
– Sixty-two brands of dog food were checked.
– One of the brands, Gravy Train, tested positive for the drug’s presence in the product.
One of the involved dog foods is Gravy Train. More than two dozen brands and 62 samples of dog food were examined.
Fifteen cans of Gravy Train were tested and nine came back positive with the drug that is commonly used to euthanize dogs. The cans contained low levels of the fatal drug but per the rules, such content is not allowed.
The drug can cause drowsiness, dizziness, excitement, nausea, and even death if the dogs ingest it. Gravy Train is manufactured by Big Heart Pet Foods and owned by Smucker’s. They have not released a statement yet.
