According to a study, there are 9 million lonely people in the United Kingdom and almost half of this population are aged 65 and up. It was found out that dogs help elderlies to be more active and thus happier. Doggos also reduce the loneliness of these older adults because whenever they have contact with doggos, their brain works better.
The project is called PEDIGEE Dog Dates. The project started in the town of Melton Mowbury, which is the most pet-friendly town in the United Kingdom. This is the first project of its kind. The main goal of the project is to reduce social isolation and ultimately depression in older people.
