The first dogs initially lived with humans for thousands of years. However, one day, they vanished leaving no genetic trace at all. This mystery has been solved just recently.
– The oldest known dogs in the Americas vanished.
– It is possible that the wolf-like dogs came from Siberia.
– These dogs had a different set of genes that are not present in modern dogs thus their extinction.
DNA was recently recovered and the bones were estimated to be around 10,000 years old, which are the oldest known dogs in the America to date. A study was published on Science and it is believed that the wolf-like dogs came from Siberia to America. The reason that these dogs vanished was because they have a distinct gene in them that the modern dogs do not have.
It is believed that the first dogs were used for tracking deer, hauling supplies, and guarding camps. It is possible that people brought dogs with them whenever they moved from one place to another.
