There have been studies in the past claiming that having a dog is good for your health especially your heart. A new study now suggests that having a dog is also a great for you to gain friends.

The research involved 2,000 dog owners and almost half of them have met friends while they were out walking their doggo. Accordingly, the average number of people that they meet while out on a walk is four. Fifty-four percent of the dog owners also believes that because they have a dog with them, they are more confident to strike up a conversation with a stranger. Their romantic relationships have also improved.
A dog behaviorist shared that having dogs around is the “perfect ice breaker to start conversations with people you might otherwise pass by.”
