She has been trying to implement policies in different store areas that forbid people from carrying their pets into stores but welcome service dogs. A woman sent her a lengthy email together with some photos of dog she saw at Wal-mart in shopping cart.
Inside the basket of the cart was the dog surrounded with some food item. She questioned how the grocery stores were dealing with this issue or if they considered this an issue. A representative of Winn-Dixie said that she would hear back from them. The spokesperson of Fresh Market also said the company chose to pass on this occasion.

Lastly, Publix and Wa-mart corresponded by saying that the stores accommodate and welcome service animals. The policy of Wal-mart is indicated on their website, stated that they are dedicated in making rational amendment to its practices, policies and procedures to allow the customers with disabilities to utilize service animals.
What does the law says about it?
Florida’s Admninstrative Code Chapter 64E- 11 says- in the food hygiene policy ,“ No live birds or animals except for crustacea, shellfish and fish in the food service establishment…“
However there is an exception to the rule, for people who use service animals like dog that has been trained to perform task for an any person with a disability.
