In Tel Aviv, Israel, the city council just approved setting up a data base regarding dog owners and their doggos, wherein the former are obligated to submit the DNA details of their doggos. This way, they can test the dog poop to find the person responsible for not picking up after their dog. The dog owner will then be fined.

The submission of the DNA details will be made upon receiving a new license or renewing their old one. The existing dog licenses will expire in six months after this new law will be in place. The new licenses will not be approved if the dog owner fails to give the dog’s DNA details.
Accordingly, they came up with the ingenious way to track the dog owner because they have a persisting “fight against the phenomenon of dog feces not being collected by their owners across the city.” In the past, the fines were increased but despite that, the violations of dog owners remained a problem.
