The River Rouge Animal Shelter released a statement saying that it is an amazing story of survival. Accordingly, a coyote chased the doggo into the Detroit River. The animal shelter knew of this incident and watched the doggo the entire time it was stuck. They could only hope it could make its way back to land because they could not go in and intervene as it was too dangerous. They finally got help on Saturday when a couple of Good Samaritans used their boat to go to the river.
As for the doggo, it was taken to the vet but it is not yet out of the woods. The dog is very sick and he might stay under the watch of a vet for five days or more.
The rescuers declined to be identified. They just said they were happy to help.
