The Cleveland County District attorney’s Office will be the one filing charges of reckless conduct with a firearm on top of a cruelty to animals charge.
The dog is a seven-year-old Siberian Husky, named Jax, and it was shot in the neck. According to the dog owner, Jax was interacting with the dog of the suspect, which is a small dog. The small dog was taken to the area where large dogs are staying separately. The human of the victim doggo continued, “The little dog kept coming over to my husky and kind of aggravating him. At first, I thought it was playful, but my dog was eventually acting like, ‘leave me alone,’ growling.” The suspect reportedly showed that he had a gun but the owner of Jax did not realize that because he was focused on the doggo. Later, the small dog and Jax went running and Jax was just jumping playfully and that was when the suspect took out his gun and fired one shot.
More on Jax, the bullet went through his chest and punctured his lung. Fortunately, the dog became stable and was released from the hospital.
Jax’s owner also set up a GoFundMe account for his doggo’s medical expenses. The owner added, “He was my mother’s dog until she passed away in February of this year, so he’s all my family has left of her, [and we] just want him better and healthy again.”
