There are times that your dog’s nose is dry and there are other times that your dog’s nose is cold and wet. Contrary to what others have been saying, that a cold nose is a sign of great health, there is actually a more reasonable explanation regarding this occurrence.
– A dog sometimes has wet nose.
– It is not an indication that dogs are healthy.
– It actually helps the dog smell better because…
Although there aren’t any studies about it, it is believed that because a dog always licks its nose, the saliva helps the nose produce more mucus in the nostrils. Because of the presence of such mucus, dogs can smell better.
Accordingly, when doggos try to smell something, they lick their nose so that they can pick up more of the smell since the tongue brushes against the olfactory gland on the roof of the dog’s mouth. To put it simply, if they smell it, they later taste it, and lastly determine what exactly they are smelling.
