Bear actually had a sad past. He was abandoned for having too much energy. Later, the doggo was trained to be a rescue dog and was very great at his job. The dog has since been with the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC). He later became a member of USC’s Detection Dogs for Conservation team.
Accordingly, because of the bushfires, at least 350 koalas died and many were left injured and starving. That was when Bear started saving some of them. The five-year-old Border Collie mix has been deployed in the area since November. Bear is the only doggo in the whole world that can sniff out koalas due to the scent of their fur and feces. The koalas that Bear saved are now tagged as endangered species and will be given protection to preserve their line.
