Firefighters rushed to the aid of a dog that has fallen inside a 100-year-old mine shaft.
– A man and his dogs were tracking a mountain lion
– One of the dogs fell inside a 50-ft mine shaft
– The rescue operation took about an hour
Firefighters from the El Dorado County Fire Protection District were called for help after a U.S. Department of Agriculture tracker, who was looking for a mountain lion reportedly attacking livestock, lost one of his tracking dogs.
They discovered based from the dog’s GPS collar that it was underground, which means the dog fell inside a 50-ft mine shaft. The firefighters assume that the dog picked up a scent and was going at it without noticing the hole that it fell through.
The rescue operation took about an hour before they retrieved the dog. She is now back with her trainer and her fellow trackers.
