– The dog might have diabetes.
A dog owner wrote to Beas Mode, the advice column for pets by Slate, said that the dog usually wants to pee at around 2 to 4 A.M. The dog is already a senior dog and when she was younger, she made sure she would pee before everyone went to bed. However, now that the dog drinks more, she needs more pee breaks while everyone is sleeping. The dog owner said everyone is getting tired because it has messed up their sleeping habits.
The writer for the advice column said that it’s best to get the dog checked for diabetes because drinking more water is a sign of such disease. If the dog is healthy, maybe the dog owner could take away the water dish because this could be one cause as to why the dog wants to have more pee breaks on unreasonable hours of the morning.
