A 12-year-old Golden Retriever was at a park in Vaughan when it was attacked. Now, the dog owners want answers so that the person responsible would be properly dealt with.
– A Golden Retriever was attacked at an off-leash park.
– The dog had to undergo surgery.
– The dog owners are hoping…
The dog owners said that the Golden Retriever named Benji was actually neglected for eight years by its previous owners. The dog even needed dental work and grooming because of its injuries from being neglected.
Over the weekend, Benji was allowed to play at an off-leash dog park. According to the dog owners, the incident was an unprovoked attack. One of the dog owners shared, “I heard this really violent growling sound and I looked to my left and I saw Benji being chased down by a rather large dog and I heard him yelp.” When the dog owner went to check on the dog, they saw that it suffered a wound to his mid-section. When the dog was taken to a vet, it was determined he had to undergo surgery, which cost $1,000.
Although the dog is recovering now, the dog owners want the owner of the attacking dog to be responsible for the medical fees. Anyone who has information is asked to reach out to York Regional Police.
