Melbourne veterinarian Dr. Melissa Meehan said that the worst case that could happen when dogs and cats wear face masks is they could die. Meehan explained that if a dog or a cat wears a mask, it could “increase their stress levels and could even be fatal.” She specified that brachycephalic breeds are at risk the most because they already have difficulty breathing.
Some dog owners said that they only used their dogs and cats as model for masks and to encourage people to wear masks but Meehan pointed out it can cause others to believe that animals also need to wear masks.
