A dog owner died in a bicycle crash last August 31 in Charleston, South Carolina. The dog owner was riding his bike with his doggo from New York to Florida when the unfortunate incident happened.

The dog owner died at the scene while the dog was taken to an animal hospital for the injuries it sustained. The mother of the dog owner, as well as his sister, had to travel from New York to South Carolina in order to get the doggo. The mother of the dog owner shared in a statement that her son “just kind of decided he was going to just bike. He wanted to go with [Ava] one last time. She’s seven so he wanted to do one more last trip before she got too old to do the trips. He liked camping they were out together doing what they loved.”
The dog was with the Charleston Animal Society since it was injured. The dog suffered lacerations, a broken jaw, and brain swelling. The mother of the dog owner thanked the people of Charleston for doing what they can to save the doggo. A volunteer pilot also offered to bring the family home.
An investigation regarding the crash already begun.
