According to reports, the doggo was found by a non-profit organization called Maine Lost Dog Recovery that helps pets find their way home. One of the volunteers for the organization, Kathy Winslow, shared the story of Honey Bear. She noted that Honey Bear was a shy golden retriever that has been missing since January. The dog owners asked the organization for help. The organization put up some fliers and also posted on social media. They received tips as to the sightings of the doggo for a month until the tips stopped coming in.
Just a week ago, Winslow said someone told them through Facebook that they saw Honey Bear. The dog was spotted around Matagamnon campground area since May but the dog only went out to look through the trash for food. Winslow then went to the area and lured the doggo using some food. On the third night of trying to trap the doggo, they finally got a hold of the animal.
The dog was finally reunited with its owners on Thanksgiving.
