During the time that the dog was outside the house, it was very hot. When the dog’s body temperature was checked after it died, it was reportedly 106.5 degrees. Harris County Precinct One animal cruelty investigators are now probing the matter. The deputies believe the case will go up to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office after the investigation has wrapped up. It is unclear who the dog owner is and what the repercussions are for leaving the dog outside and causing its death.
Police were made aware of the dog’s situation after a neighbor sent a video to them. The video showed the dog gasping for air.
