– A dog was at an island to remove rodents in the area for a project to help native birds flourish.
– The dog was attacked by a sealion and as a result, the dog ran away.
– The crew that the dog was with had to leave him behind because…
The dog was reportedly lost somewhere in Campbell Island, which was uninhabited. The dog was also wearing a muzzle so if worse came to worst, the dog would not be able to eat anything or drink. The dog was just there as part of Operation Endurance, which is a program that involved 100 conservation rangers, weather officials, and military member of New Zealand. The dog was actually there to clear the rodents and other predators off the island so that endangered native birds could live and breed.
The crew then searched for the doggo for seven hours but he was not found. The crew had to leave the dog behind because of the weather. However, when they got back to mainland, they planned a rescue mission. The dog was found two days later as it went back to the base camp where the crew camped days before.
The dog was then given a lot of food and water.
