According to Dr. Ken Sieranski, Animal Foundation’s chief veterinarian, you can easily spread the virus if you interact and touch a sick dog and the virus sticks to your clothes or hands.
The virus can stay for as long as half a day to a full day on your body, and if you go home and pet your dog, the virus can easily transfer to your dog.
Dr. Sieranski adds that the main areas of concern are dog parks, kennels and anywhere dogs can interact with each other.
The canine influenza vaccination costs only $20 at the Animal Foundation.
