There are a number of diseases that can be passed from dogs to humans but one disease is making a lot of dog owners nervous. The latest incident was confirmed in Des Moines, Iowa.

State veterinarian Dr. Jeff Kaisand said that canine brucellosis has been confirmed in a number of cases. The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship said that they are already notifying the dog owners of the infected doggos. The dogs are now under quarantine. For dogs, the symptoms are abortions, infertility, and stillbirths. As for humans, the symptoms are headache, sweating, fever, and joint pain.
If a person gets infected with canine brucellosis, they can get antibiotics and will recover soon. However, in severe cases, they would take weeks or even months in order to recover.
